Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure from Manchester United has cast a cloud over his fifth and probably last participation in the World Cup. Portugal will kick off their campaign in Group H against Ghana in Stadium 974 in Ras Abu Aboud in Qatar.

There are two other United players in the Portuguese team, leading to speculations that Ronaldo’s exit could cause some tension and a sense of division in the squad. The team will be eager to dispel this and prove that they can play as a cohesive unit by doing their best to score a win against Ghana.

Cristiano hopes to give Portugal its first championship

Portugal is known as a country with excellent footballers, but the World Cup trophy has eluded them, with their best result being third place back in 1966.

Diogo Jota was ruled out due to an injury before the tournament, so all 26 members of team Portugal are healthy and will be able to play for their World Cup opener against a young and vibrant opponent.
