Manchester United welcome Chelsea to Old Trafford in the Premier League on Wednesday as they look to bounce back from Saturday’s defeat to Newcastle United at St James’ Park.

Will Ten Hag drop Rashford?

Marcus Rashford has received plenty of criticism after his performance in the 1-0 loss against Newcastle, where United were outplayed and outfought against Eddie Howe’s side.

Rashford was substituted after another disappointing display this season, in what has been a dramatic dip for the forward after a brilliant 2022-23 campaign.

United boss Erik ten Hag could start Rashford on the bench at Old Trafford today, with the lively and the in-form Alejandro Garnacho possibly starting in Rashford’s preferred role on the left side of the forward line.

Mainoo in midfield

In what has been a far from impressive season to date for United, Kobbie Mainoo has been one of the positive stories to come out of Old Trafford and is likely to start in midfield for a potentially intriguing centre-of-the-park battle on the night with Chelsea’s Moisés Caicedo and Enzo Fernández.
