Earlier in the week, Real Madrid had been concerned about the effect of the international break on a number of players ahead of Saturday’s trip to face Sergio Ramos and Co in Sevilla, although Carlo Ancelotti should ultimately have everyone he expected to have available for the trip to Andalusia, including star attacking trident Jude Bellingham, Rodrygo and Vinícius Júnior.

Rüdiger’s suspension threat before El Clásico

The Brazilian duo, along with Uruguayan Fede Valverde and Antonio Rüdiger, who played for Germany against the USMNT and Mexico in East Hartford and Phildelphia respectively, returned rom their trip across the pond late in the week. However, all four are ready to play and are expected to do so from the start.

Rüdiger, of course, must be on his best behaviour at Estadio Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán as a yellow card will see him incur a one-match suspension and miss next weekend’s Clásico against Barcelona. The severity of his potential absence has been significantly reduced, though, by the news that club captain Nacho will be available for that game after a ban.

Camavinga or Kroos in midfield?

Ancelotti’s main selection poser is in midfield, where it appears he must choose between Toni Kroos and Eduardo Camavinga. Aurélien Tchouaméni looks to be a certainly to start in the holding role, with the Frenchman having spent more time on the field than the rest of his teammates bar two (Bellingham has played just 14 minutes more). Valverde will take up his usual spot on the right of the rhombus, with a question mark remaining over who will play on the opposite side. Kroos could well get the nod due to his fine recent form and having had a rest over the international break.

Rodrygo to start ahead of Joselu?

In attack, there is no doubt Bellingham will start in behind the now-recovered Vinícius and one other. There had been some reports Joselu would play ahead of Rodrygo but Ancelotti’s words in his pre-match press conference suggest the Brazilian will play from the off.

Real Madrid’s possible starting XI to play Sevilla:

Kepa; Carvajal, Rüdiger, Alaba, Mendy; Tchouameni, Valverde, Kroos or Camavinga; Bellingham; Rodrygo, Vinicius.
