After just one season in MLS, FC Dallas striker Petar Musa could soon be on his way amid reported interest from Premier League clubs.

The Croatian joined Dallas last February on a club-record $10 million transfer, potentially rising as high as $13 million. He finished 2024 with 16 goals in the league, only one of which came from the penalty spot.

European soccer journalist Rudy Galetti reports that his performances have attracted the attention of Nottingham Forest and Leicester City, bringing the possibility of a move to the Premier League. Dallas are thought to be willing to consider a sale, but would demand at least $18 million for their star attacking talent.

Still only 26 years old, Musa spent two years with Portuguese giants Benfica before leaving for Dallas. The 6ft 3in forward is a dominant presence and a clinical finisher when given service.

Could Petar Musa be heading for the Premier League?

Although Nottingham Forest and Leicester have been cited as two possible destinations for Musa, his role at the two clubs would be very different.

Forest are enjoying a historic Premier League campaign, sitting third in the league at the halfway stage. Striker Chris Wood has exceeded all expectations with 11 goals in 19 games but head coach Nuno Espirito Santos has few alternatives to the big New Zealander. Musa, with a similarly physical style, could provide a useful backup.

Leicester find themselves at the other end of the table and in desperate need of inspiration if they are to stave off relegation in their first season back in the top flight. The Foxes sit second-from-bottom and their only real goalscoring threat appears to be a 37-year-old Jamie Vardy. Musa would be a much more malleable attacking talent for new head coach Ruud van Nistelrooy to mold into a game-winner.

A move to the Premier League would be a major draw for the player and Dallas would likely jump at the chance to turn a healthy profit. However they are not short of money at the money, having reportedly agreed to sell forward Jesús Ferreira to Seattle Sounders in exchange for Leo Chu, $2 million in general allocation money (GAM) and an additional international roster spot.

If Petar Musa is to leave ahead of the 2025 season it will likely take a significant transfer, and the lure of a move to a major European league, to convince Dallas to part with him.
