PSG confirm Keylor Navas’ future
Paris Saint-Germain coach Christophe Galtier confirmed that the Costa Rica international is frustrated with his decision.
Last year, Keylor Navas and Gianluigi Donnarumma battled for the starting role with Paris Saint-Germain under Mauricio Pochettino. Towards the end of the season, the PSG coach opted for the Italian goalkeeper in the most important games and left Navas on the bench.
Navas is frustrated with the situation
The Ligue 1 side recently parted ways with Pochettino and appointed Christophe Galtier as the new head coach. During his press conference the French manager confirmed that he will not be alternating goalkeepers and during PSG’s first preseason game in Japan against Kawasaki the French manager didn’t include Navas in the roster.
Paris Saint-Germain defeated Kawasaki 2-1 and Galtier explained that it was a “matter of playing time” but Navas started the second friendly against Urawa Reds on Saturday. The Costa Rica international was taken out of the game in the second half in PSG’s 3-0 victory and afterwards, Galtier spoke about Navas’ frustration.
“I know Navas is really frustrated because of the situation, but I trust him as our second goalkeeper,” said Galtier. This means that Donnarumma will be the starting goalkeeper as long as he is the manager of Paris Saint-Germain. Navas is looking for a way out and several teams are keen to sign him before the end of the transfer window.
