PSG keen to offload Sergio Ramos

According to Le Parisien, the centre-back is keen to continue in Paris, but the club has other ideas. His constant fitness issues have been a sticking point.

Sergio Ramos’ adventure in Paris could be coming to an end earlier than he had hoped. According to the latest reports from Le Parisien, the Spanish central defender is keen to continue in the French capital next season, but that is at odds with what PSG’s top brass have in mind. The club have decided that it would be better for him to move on, a clear sign that it hasn’t really worked out for the ex-Real Madrid captain.

Ramos unable to make PSG debut in the Champions League

Both sides see the situation very differently. In an interview with Amazon Prime last week, Ramos assured that his continuity was a contractual matter (he has a year left to run on his contract) and not a question of wanting to or not. But PSG don’t want to spend another season having to endure Ramos’ endless injuries - his fitness issues stopped him from playing a single minute in the Champions League. While he has played in the last three games, including a start against Clermont, the defender’s physical condition is a concern for PSG, who would not stand in his way if he were to leave the club in June.

The big problem with that is finding a club which is capable of paying Ramos’ salary. Very few clubs are in a position to meet the kind of wages he earns in Paris - that, along with the constant injuries he has suffered during his first season at PSG makes him difficult to offload. Apart from Ramos, PSG have already informed Di María that they will not be renewing his contract which expires in June - so El Fideo also looks set to be leaving this summer.
