PSG name matchday squad to play Toulouse: does Real Madrid target Kylian Mbappé return?

Former Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembélé will likely make his debut. Could he play alongside his French international teammate?

For much of the summer, we’ve wondered if we would ever see Kylian Mbappé pull on a Paris Saint-Germain shirt again. Against Toulouse on Saturday, it seems almost certain that we will.

The France captain has been clear throughout about his intention to stay in the French capital, but only for one more season, after which he would leave on a free transfer.

Faced with losing their most valuable asset for nothing, the Ligue 1 champions have tried every trick in the book to convince him to sign a new deal, or leave the club for a huge transfer fee, even accepting a world-record offer from Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal, who Mbappé had no interest in joining.

Real Madrid foiled in plans to sign Mbappé for free

It appears, however, that the two parties have reached an agreement that will see the attacker extend his contract to 2025, which will include some kind of clause enabling him to leave for a “sensible” transfer fee. Real Madrid, who were hoping to take the Frenchman to Spain on a free transfer next summer, will not be best pleased.

Mbappé officially named in PSG squad to play Toulouse

Just hours after PSG boss Luis Enrique talked of his “delight” at having “world-class” Mbappé back in first-team training came the unsurprising news that the 24-year-old had been included in the match day squad for the trip to Toulouse.

With Neymar having moved to Saudi Arabia, the Spanish head coach has admitted that the French champions are somewhat light in attack, despite the additions of Ousmane Dembélé and Gonçalo Ramos. With that in mind, and Mbappé “in perfect shape”, one of the planet’s best players will surely start, almost as if nothing had ever happened.
