PSG planning bid for “Europe’s most promising central defender”

The impact of the young 18-year-old player has captivated the French team, which is running as the main suitor.

For Paris Saint-Germain, it was love at first sight when they first cast their eyes on Antonio Silva, Benfica’s 18-year-old centre-back. His exhibition display for the Portuguese side in the 1-1 Champions League draw between the two sides on 5 October impressed PSG’s technical department, who are now considering putting together a bid for the teenager, according to Portuguese sports paper, A Bola

Antonio Silva has made a total of 11 appearances for Benfica so far this season, in which he has stood out for his seriousness in defense and for his ambition. That character, added to his talent, has led him to be a regular in the starting XI for the Lisbon-based outfit. Silva hails from Viseu, the same city as Atlético Madrid forward João Félix.

Despite the interest from PSG, signing the young defender would be a complex operation. Benfica have set his release clause at 100 million euros and recently extended his contract until June 2027. Benfica would be expected to strictly adhere to the clause and will not facilitate his exit.
