On Monday, Paris Saint-Germain confirmed that Neymar will be out of action for the next three to four months.
The Brazil international will undergo ligament repair surgery following several ankle problems in what is a blow for the French club.
Neymar out for three to four months
In a statement, PSG wrote: “Neymar Jr has suffered several episodes of instability in his right ankle in recent years. Following his latest sprain on 20 February, the Paris Saint-Germain medical staff recommended a ligament repair operation to avoid a major risk of recurrence. All the experts consulted have confirmed this necessity.
“The surgery will be performed in the coming days at the ASPETAR hospital in Doha.
“A delay of three to four months is expected before his return to training.”
Neymar is now set to miss the rest of the 2022-23 campaign with PSG. The 31-year-old has scored 18 goals in all competitions this season.
