PSG target Luis Enrique as a replacement for Galtier
According to ‘Le Parisien’, the Spanish coach, out of work since the World Cup, is one of the Parisians’ favourites to succeed Galtier.
The next name on the PSG bench has been swirling around the streets of Paris for several weeks. Among the candidates to replace Galtier, whose future is further away from Paris than ever, are names like Mourinho and Marcelo Gallardo. Now, however, the name of Luis Enrique has entered the list, who is the latest to join a wide portfolio of alternatives that the sports management of the club is considering.
The Spaniard, according to Le Parisien, is a target for Nasser Al Khelaifi and Qatar, who consider the ex-Spain boss the ideal candidate to lift the dressing room and to compete in the Champions League, a competition that he knows how to win after securing an historic treble in 2015 with Barcelona.
Luis Enrique has Premier League interest
Since leaving the Spain team in December, Luis Enrique has aroused the interest of big clubs across Europe, including Chelsea, who tried to sign him after Potter’s departure in March, but negotiations did not come to fruition with Todd Boehly. PSG, who have not yet contacted the coach’s entourage, could try to speed up talks once the season is finally over.
The style of play of the former Barcelona coach is offensive, vertical and prioritises possession of the ball as his main weapon, is another of the virtues that make him win integers for PSG to try to sign him. Tuchel and Blanc, similar to Luis Enrique, had a fruitful period in Paris and the club will try to mould the project in that direction. Even so, as Le Parisien reported, there are no negotiations at the moment for him to be Galtier’s replacement on the bench.
