PSG’s Champions League win unlocks three more trophies to chase
The European champions have already secured their biggest prize, but several more titles are now within reach.
Paris Saint-Germain’s latest Champions League triumph will bring another financial windfall to the club led by Nasser Al-Khelaifi.
By defeating Arsenal in Saturday’s final in Budapest, PSG secured an additional €25 million (about $29.1 million) in prize money from UEFA. Arsenal, meanwhile, will not leave empty-handed. The runner-up receives €18.5 million (roughly $21.6 million).
Another record-breaking payday for PSG
For the second straight season, the Paris club has posted record earnings from its performances in European competition, boosted by UEFA’s revamped tournament format and its expanded prize pool.
UEFA significantly increased financial rewards for clubs, adding roughly €400 million ($466 million) in prize money compared to the tournament in its previous format. After collecting around €140 million ($163 million) from its 2025 Champions League campaign, PSG is expected to approach a similar figure again this season.
That means the French champions could generate close to €280 million ($326 million) from Champions League participation across the past two seasons alone.
More trophies, and more money, on the line
The victory also qualifies PSG for several additional competitions.
First up is the UEFA Super Cup, where the Champions League winners will face Aston Villa, managed by former PSG coach Unai Emery, on Aug. 12, 2026, at Red Bull Arena in Salzburg, Austria.
That match comes with another financial incentive. The winner will receive €5 million (about $5.8 million), while the runner-up will still earn €4 million (roughly $4.7 million).
Intercontinental Cup and Club World Cup opportunities
PSG also secured a place in the 2026 FIFA Intercontinental Cup. As Champions League winners, the Paris club will advance directly to the final, just as it did in the previous edition, when it defeated Flamengo in a penalty shootout.
Winning the Champions League also grants entry to the 2029 FIFA Club World Cup. However, that qualification carries less significance for PSG than it does for most clubs because the French side had already secured its place by winning the Champions League in 2025.
So far, six teams are confirmed for the tournament: PSG, Mexico’s Cruz Azul, Saudi Arabia’s Al Ahli, Brazil’s Flamengo, South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns and Egyptian side Pyramids FC.
