Despite still officially being a Paris Saint-Germain player, Kylian Mbappé is top of the list of players expected to join Real Madrid as a free agent this summer. The French striker is expected to be one of the game’s leading lights over the next decade and both PSG and Madrid want him to be at the forefront of their projects. According to several reports, PSG have already tabled an eye-watering offer which they hope will convince Mbappé to stay in the French capital. Spanish journalist Julio Pulido analysed PSG’s offer and other issues at Real Madrid on Cadena SER’s El Larguero programme.

PSG’s mega-offer for Mbappé: “Money won’t come into it. Right from the start, we knew that PSG were going to give him whatever he asks for. But I don’t think that money will have an influence on what he decides - it will be more about where he wants to play. If it’s true that he has already decided to play for Real Madrid, he will do that regardless of what PSG offer him”.

Gareth Bale’s departure this summer: “Bale has another couple of months left in the dressing room and the club hope it will end well for him so that the fans remember the good moments. They’ll look the other way and time will be the judge of his spell at the club. I don’t think any of us will believe it when Bale actually leaves”.

Ancelotti’s rotation policy: “It’s the time to recognise that Ancelotti has won the debate over rotations. To be honest, I have no explanation why. According to logic, players like Casemiro, Kroos, Modric... should suffer from fatigue, but it hasn’t worked out that way”.

Benzema: “He’s the player who is most in form right now. He’s the most decisive in most of Madrid’s games. He decides them time and time again. He’s not just the team’s leader on the pitch, he’s also the leader off it”.

Courtois: “We’re talking about the most in-form goalkeeper in the world right now and he is also being decisive in key moments”.

Casemiro: “He’s not in his best moment, but maintaining the level he showed last season is difficult. There have been games where he’s been late in challenges and physically he is not 100%”.
