Pumas celebrate 68th anniversary amid uncertainty
Universidad Nacional are celebrating 68 years as one of Mexico’s biggest clubs.
One of Mexico’s biggest clubs is celebrating its 68th birthday. Club Universidad Nacional celebrated its birthday but the club’s anniversary is not coming at the best time.

Home to some household names, including Hugo Sánchez, Luis García Postigo, Sergio Bernal, Evanivaldo Castro ‘Cabinho’, Muñante, Darío Verón, Sergio Bernal among others and currently with Juan Ignacio Dinenno and Andrés Lillini as stalwarts, they will be looking for a strong end to the season despite a poor run of late.

No title in over a decade
Despite the club’s vast list of honours, success has not been experienced in recent years. The club have not lifted a title in 11 years and in recent years they have been denied on three occasions, two in Liga MX, against Tigres and Leon, and the most recent in the CONCACAF Champions League against Seattle Sounders.
