Pumas fans set for triple Christmas present
Ahead of the Clausura 2026 tournament, the Liga MX club is understood to have sealed multiple additions to Efraín Juárez’s roster.
After a Liga MX tournament where the team’s lack of depth was glaring, it seems Pumas’ front office has made its offseason priorities crystal clear. Rumors have begun to swirl, and with them, a wave of possibilities is opening up around the club.
According to exclusive information obtained by AS México, the first major addition - one of three reinforcements the club already has lined up - could arrive shortly after Christmas. Securing a true center forward has been the top priority, and that’s why Efraín Juárez has made filling that role his first order of business.
Trio of signings in store - with more to follow
Sources indicate that the 29‑year‑old Brazilian striker Olávio Vieira dos Santos Júnior, better known as Juninho, is set to be the first to touch down in El Pedregal. Once Christmas has passed, the South American is expected to sign his contract and officially open Pumas’ transfer window ahead of the Clausura 2026.
The same source also confirmed that César Garza and Tony Leone - both coming from Monterrey - are already done deals. It’s simply a matter of time before their arrivals become official.
With that, Pumas doesn’t expect to wait more than 10 days for their new striker to pull on Los Felinos’ jersey. And it’s very likely the two Rayados youngsters will be introduced before the month is over as well.
Internal reports also suggest these won’t be the only reinforcements for the semester, meaning fans can feel confident that the squad will be better equipped - not only for Liga MX, but to compete in the CONCACF Champions Cup as well.
