Pumas looking to take legal action against Dani Alves

Dani Alves is in the eye of the storm and he is being held on remand without bail in a Barcelona jail after a 23-year-old woman accused him of sexually assaulting her at Sutton nightclub on December 30. The Brazilian international has now spent two nights in jail and security footage from the nightclub shows Alves accompanying the complainant into the VIP restroom where they spent 16 minutes together.

Pumas not happy with Dani Alves

UNAM offered the 39-year-old a one-year contract extension to continue playing in Liga MX during 2023, but they had to terminate it following the allegations. Dani Alves only played one game during the Clausura 2023, in a 2-1 win over FC Juárez on January 8 at Estadio Olímpico Universitario, when he came on as a substitute in the second half.

Now that his contract has been terminated, it can be revealed that Dani Alves was earning around $326,104 a month, making him one of the highest paid players in Liga MX. His salary was paid by Pumas UNAM and some sponsors during his first six months in Mexico’s top tier and now the club is looking to take legal action against the 39-year-old.

“We don’t rule out any action because we are waiting to see how everything ends,” said the Pumas president Leopoldo Silva. So the Liga MX side will wait until the case is over to decide what steps to take next, and whether or not they will sue Dani Alves.
