The Pumas began the Apertura 2022 with high hopes, as reinforcements such as Eduardo Salvio, Gustavo del Prete and Dani Alves arrived. However, the group led by Andrés Lillini has not been able to raise the performances in this contest and is currently fighting for the last places in the general table.

What do the Pumas need for the playoffs?

It’s not looking good for the students, since they lost in their last game by a score of 3-1 against Chivas Rayadas del Guadalajara. As it stands, the auriazules are in 17th place in the table with just nine points from 11 games.

The felines are in serious need of points, as they continue to create more distance between themselves and a ticket to the league. In order to win a ticket for reclassification, the Pumas have to earn 12 points out of the 18 that are available, so it seems complicated that they can be in the final phase of the tournament.

This Saturday, they take to the field of the Jalisco Stadium to face Atlas in matchday 12 of the Apertura 2022. Later, those from Pedregal will close the regular phase of the contest facing White Gallos from Querétaro, Red Devils from Toluca, Puebla and Bravos from Ciudad Juárez.

Due to the recent results, the Rojinegros del Atlas are favorites to win the three points, and the two-time Mexican soccer champion is also in need of points. The last triumph of the felines in Guadalajara territory occurred in the Apertura 2021, when they won with a solitary goal from Juan Ignacio Dinenno.
