A few days before the Clausura 2023 begins, Pumas are still looking for reinforcements to shore up the squad and have now completed the signing of midfielder Jesús Molina.

The 34-year-old has plenty of experience of life at one of the Liga MX’s ‘big four’ clubs: he joins Los Auriazules from Chivas Guadalajara, while he has also had a spell with Club América.

On their official media platforms, Pumas welcomed the Tigres youth product, who will now report for pre-season training under the orders of head coach Rafael Puente del Río.

“These colours are defended with great determination and passion. Welcome to the blue and gold,” the seven-time Mexican champions wrote on social media.

Pumas fans question Molina signing

The news was not well received by Pumas fans, as some consider that Molina is joining the club at a time when he is not playing his best football and, given his age, is on the decline.

In the Clausura 2023 tournament, which begins on 6 January, Pumas are out to return to the Liga MX top spots after an Apertura 2022 campaign in which they failed to qualify for the playoffs.
