Rafa Márquez: Santiago Giménez is ready for Real Madrid
The former Barcelona player believes Mexico international Giménez is ready for the top.
Santiago Giménez is making history in European football with Feyenoord, scoring 15 goals already this season, and is the first Mexican player to score a brace on his Champions League debut.
In recent days there have been reports that Real Madrid have their sights set on Giménez in a bid to bolster their forward line. Rafael Márquez played for Barcelona alongside the likes of Ronaldinho and the Mexican coach believes that Giménez is ready for Real Madrid, who take on Barcelona in El Clásico on Saturday.
“Since he arrived he has scored goals and earned his place in the starting line-up. Yesterday he scored two goals, and he had another goal disallowed, I think he’s having a great spell,” Márquez said at a press conference.
Giménez has the support
“I think the mentality that Santi has, the work he is doing, and the support he has from his father, who has a great experience in football, makes him a more complete player, and hopefully he will have the opportunity,” added Márquez.
El Clásico
On Saturday, Real Madrid travel to Barcelona to take on Xavi’s side in the first Clásico of the 2023-2024 season.
