Rasmus Hojlund made history with Manchester United on Sunday, scoring after 36 seconds against Luton Town at Kenilworth Road. The Danish striker gave United the lead when he rounded Luton goalkeeper Thomas Kaminski to slot home after a poor back pass attempt by Amari’i Bell.
Just five minutes later, he made it 2-0 to Erik ten Hag’s side when he chested home an Alejandro Garnacho shot that was flying wide. With his goals against Luton, the former Atalanta forward has become the youngest player to score in six consecutive games in the Premier League. He surpassed Joe Willock’s previous record of 21 years and 272 days old when he notched in the opening minute.
The Denmark international has the record at 21 years and 14 days old and will be aiming to continue his fine run of form with the Old Trafford side. After Hojlund’s early brace, Luton equalised in the 14th minute when forward Carlton Morris headed past André Onana to make it 2-1 but Ten Hag’s men held on to their narrow lead to move to within three points of Tottenham in fifth place.
It took Hojlund time to get on the score sheet after making his move to United as he failed to score in his first 14 Premier League games. The highly-talented striker eventually broke his duck against Aston Villa, scoring the winner in the 3-2 victory at Old Trafford.
