Raúl Jiménez leaves Mexico’s training camp
The Wolverhampton striker has returned to London to get an injection to treat his groin injury and he is expected to be back in training camp on Sunday.
Raúl Jiménez is in a race against time to recover from his groin injury and be fit to play in the upcoming FIFA World Cup. Last week, the 31-year-old traveled to Spain to join the Mexico national team’s camp and trained with the rest of the group, but didn’t see any playing time in the friendly against Iraq.
Injury update
The Wolverhampton striker continues to recover from his groin injury and he has not played for club or country since late-August. On Saturday it was confirmed that Raúl Jiménez left Mexico’s training camp and traveled to London to continue with his rehabilitation.
The Mexican international will receive an injection to treat his groin injury and he is expected to rejoin the national team on Sunday night. Coach Gerardo Martino will give Jiménez’s recovery until the last minute before announcing the final World Cup roster that will travel to Qatar next week.
Raúl Jiménez has been the striker of preference since Martino took over the managerial job in 2019 and is expected to recover in time for the tournament. Mexico will play one last friendly on November 16th against Sweden before starting their World Cup campaign.
The Wolverhampton striker will not see any playing time against the Swedes as he continues with his recovery. Martino, however, expressed confidence that Raúl Jiménez will recover in time and added that he will announce Mexico’s final 26-player World Cup roster on Monday.
