Raúl Jiménez still not fully recovered from head injury
Raúl Jiménez reveals that he has to continue wearing a band because his head has not completely healed.
Wolves and Mexico striker Raúl Jiménez suffered a serious head injury in November 2020 that sidelined him for several months. Ahead of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, he admits that he still has not recovered one hundred percent and must continue to use the protective band he has used so far.
“I played pre-season games with a band that has been changing. Before it was full protection, then it became smaller and now it’s a band, like a long headband, which covers that part more, because it’s where the skull is not completely healed. It’s for protection. I have a cracked skull and it is difficult for me to be hit again in that place, but it is the recommendation of the doctors,” Jiménez said in an interview with Star+ in the special ‘In first person’.
Jiménez’s concern
It is known that the Mexican striker did not go through a good time during his recovery, which was difficult and he admitted to feeling a certain fear when he began heading the ball again.
“The first time they told me that they would give me balls to head, I was afraid to see what would happen and when I saw that nothing happened, it was normal. Go out onto the pitch, go without fear and even go to the same area at the front post, the area where the accident happened,” he added.

As for the relationship he has with David Luiz (player with whom he collided resulting in injury), Jiménez said that everything is fine between them.
“Since I was in the hospital I had messages from him asking me how I was, that he was sorry and I told him that nothing was wrong, that it was a football. Then they came to play, he was sent off, I was in the box and he went to greet me”, he continued.
Like some of his other teammates, Jiménez is waiting to find out if he will be on the Mexico plane going to the World Cup this winter. A groin injury could see him miss the tournament.
