Real Betis reach agreement to sign USMNT midfielder Johnny Cardoso
The USMNT player is expected to officially join Betis ahead of the 2024-25 season.
USA international Johnny Cardoso has an agreement in place to join LaLiga club Real Betis, report Spanish outlet Relevo.
The fee for the USMNT player - who has an Italian passport - could be in the region of €4-5m ($4.2-5.2m). The Andalusian side have monitored the 22-year-old for a while, and believe he is the right type of profile to join Los Verdiblancos ahead of the 2024-25 campaign.
Betis travel to watch Cardoso
The midfielder currently plays for Brazilian club Internacional and has been one of the outstanding players in the Copa Libertadores this year, despite his team being knocked out of the tournament at the semi-final stage against fellow Brazilian outfit Fluminense, in a match that had Betis representatives in attendance.

Cardoso stands out for his power but also for his game intelligence and he can operate as a No 6 as well as further forward. He has been capped seven times by the USMNT and played five times for the USA U23 side.
