Ancelotti and Arrasate face off in Seville with the Copa del Rey final (May 6, 4 p.m. ET) at stake. Given the point in the season, both coaches have taken special care of their teams to reach the final in the best possible condition. The Real Madrid coach has given some players rest and has avoided taking risks, while the Osasuna boss has applied a policy of massive rotation over recent games to preserve his starters. Both teams reach the final with one point in common: neither of them have players suspended for the match.

Real Madrid’s injury list for the Cup final

The fitness of Luka Modric and David Alaba, especially that of the Croatian, has kept Carlo Ancelotti and Real Madrid on edge in recent days. Modric suffered a small hamstring injury in his left leg in the match against Girona, with a two-week recovery prognosis. Despite being deemed unlikely for the semifinal against City and almost impossible for the Cup final, the Croatian has done everything possible to advance the deadlines. “He has a chance, but we are not going to risk it,” Ancelotti commented after the match against Real Sociedad. The club have included him in the squad.

Alaba, for his part, has not played since the Champions League quarter-final against Chelsea due to a small tear in his right leg. His return would force Ancelotti to sacrifice either Rüdiger or Camavinga in the starting XI.

Madrid’s only guaranteed absence for the final is Ferland Mendy, who is still suffering from a muscle injury in his right soleus.

Osasuna’s injuries for the Copa del Rey final

First of all, Osasuna have been dealt a sledgehammer blow for Nacho Vidal: the right-back, who was in charge of stopping Vinicius in the league match at the Bernabéu, was injured in training on Monday. It is a setback that prevented him from traveling to Barcelona and that was confirmed on Wednesday. He is suffering from an adductor injury in his left leg that will keep him on the rest of the season.

Added to his absence, Arrasate has to deal with the loss of Darko Brasanac. The Serb underwent surgery two weeks ago for a torn cruciate and meniscus. However, David García, who will undergo surgery for a dislocated nose after the final, will be available to play. One possibility is that the Osasuna captain will play the final wearing a protective mask.
