Real Madrid miss Toni Kroos, one of those players who left an indelible mark in the club’s famous white shirt.Across ongoing discussions at Valdebebas, there is a shared belief that bringing the former midfielder back could prove decisive for the future. The idea is not a return to playing – although he remains in excellent shape – but rather something more structural. Even so, many acknowledge his presence in today’s midfield would hardly go unnoticed by Álvaro Arbeloa and his former teammates up until June 2024. For now, the intention is clear: he will return. The only uncertainty is in what role, and where exactly he will fit.

Two years after his departure, the club’s leadership is determined to fill the void he left behind. His comeback is being planned for next season, with senior figures at Valdebebas aligned on integrating the former Real Madrid midfielder into the club’s sporting structure. The decision is firm, and those in charge believe his day-to-day influence can drive the club’s growth beyond any specific title.

His farewell remains unforgettable, not just for Madrid fans. The image of his final game at the Santiago Bernabéu still lingers, a moment that moved supporters to tears. Yet the true climax came six days later, when he bowed out of professional soccer by lifting his sixth Champions League title. It was a flawless ending, almost too perfect to script – a farewell on his own terms, delivered with the same elegance that defined every touch of the ball throughout his career.

His relationship with the club – and with Florentino Pérez – has always been seamless. There were no issues during his playing days, none during his departure, and none now as he remains away from the daily routine at Valdebebas. In fact, it is the club president himself who is pushing for the German’s return.

With his life firmly established in Madrid and his family fully settled, Kroos has launched a soccer academy in Boadilla del Monte. In recent weeks, he has visited Valdebebas twice with youth teams from his project to face Real Madrid sides. During those visits, he has already begun sharing his football knowledge in a coaching role, reinforcing why the club values his return so highly.
