Real Madrid eyeing 17-year-old gem for potential winter move

Los Blancos are working behind the scenes on a January move for one of Cádiz’s brightest academy products, a teenage right back already turning heads.

He is 17 years old, a right back, an Under-18 international, one of the finest prospects to emerge from Cádiz’s academy in recent years – and now Real Madrid are circling. His name is Guille González (born July 31, 2008), a player who has set off alarms at Valdebebas. To the point that Madrid have him firmly in their sights for January, as a potential winter signing. According to sources consulted by AS, work is already under way at La Fábrica. They like him – a lot. And while the deal is not yet closed, it is very much alive.

If a handshake agreement is reached, as all parties hope, the plan would be for him to start with Juvenil A. Another gem to be shaped by Julián López de Lerma, in what is considered the ideal setting – demanding, but also tailored for adaptation. There he would link up with Lezcano, Adri Pérez and Lacosta, players he already knows well from Spain’s youth national teams. That would be the starting point, though his progression would depend entirely on performance. The move is designed with a clear goal: reaching Castilla sooner rather than later.

And it would be a significant investment. According to Merino, the journalist who broke the story, Madrid would need to move close to €500,000 (around $540,000) to make the transfer happen. The reasoning goes beyond his potential. González is an undisputed starter in the División de Honor, has already made his debut with Cádiz’s reserve side, and recently signed a new four-year contract with the club. That renewal ties him down – and forces Madrid to dig deep. That is the crux of the negotiation, even though the player himself would be delighted to make the jump.

A right-back production line

He would be a high-profile addition to a position already rich in talent at La Fábrica. Under Álvaro Arbeloa, Castilla currently boast David Jiménez (21) and Jesús Fortea (18). David is now Castilla’s first-choice right back and recently made his senior debut as a starter in Talavera. Jesús, meanwhile, was selected for the Club World Cup – a factor that weighed heavily in his contract renewal through 2029, turning down two offers from Champions League clubs. The Albal native started the season as Arbeloa’s backup, but during Fortea’s absence at the Under-20 World Cup – where he was one of the standouts in Chile – his teammate overtook him.

David is one of the academy’s finest crossers, with exquisite technique and responsibility for set pieces. Jesús brings more dribbling and bite – a lightning-quick fullback with a winger’s soul and clear first-team potential. Behind them are Melvin (18), Bailón (17), Ares Capatana (16) – and possibly Guille González. That is the plan. That is the shared desire. Because Madrid are watching him closely. Now. For January. Ready to polish the diamond from Jerez de la Frontera in Valdebebas’ factory of right backs.
