Real Madrid have a new number 10

Kylian Mbappé will sport the number 10 jersey at Real Madrid for the 2025-26 campaign. His first season at Real Madrid failed to go as expected in terms of trophy wins as the club just bagged two minor titles (a European Super Cup and the FIFA Intercontinental Cup). However, after a slow start, the French striker began to find the target scoring 44 goals in 59 matches.

Upon arriving at the Bernabeu last year, the French player wasn’t able to choose the number 7 shirt, as it belonged (and still belongs) to Vinicius, nor the number 10, which Modric used. But now with the Croatian midfielder swapping Madrid for Milan, Mbappé inherits the shirt number he usually wears with France.

Madridistas can now snap up the jersey via the Real Madrid website, with the number 9 now available at the club.

Endrick could be assigned the nine although after a dazzling showing at the Club World Cup, this or the 16 could be handed out to Gonzalo, should the youth team player decline the offers from the Premier League.

As things stand, apart from number 9, only number 25 is currently free, the latter being a number that can only be assigned to an outfield player when the rest of the squad placed are already occupied. The 17 that Lucas Vázquez used has finally gone to Asencio, who has already been signed to La Liga as a full-fledged first-team player. Everything remains to be seen whether there will be any new arrivals and what number Mastantuono will be given when he formally joins the club on on August 14.
