Gabri Veiga would choose Real Madrid over Premier League clubs
Real Madrid are reportedly very keen on the Spain U21 international.
Gabri Veiga is one of the breakout players in LaLiga this season. The Celta Vigo player has attracted interest from several Premier League clubs including Arsenal, Newcastle and Manchester United.
Closer to home, Real Madrid are reportedly very keen on the Spain U21 international, who has scored nine goals and registered three assists in LaLiga in 2022-23.
Madrid among suitors
The 20-year-old has a €40m release clause and there are two English clubs willing to pay it. It now remains to be seen what Real Madrid decide and according to Spanish news outlet Cadena SER, the player would prefer to join Los Blancos. If Madrid are willing to match the €40m, Gabri Veiga could choose the Bernabéu as the next step in his career despite interest from the Premier League.
Madrid have watched Gabri Veiga on several occasions with Celta this season, where he has linked up superbly with club legend Iago Aspas - 15 years his senior. In May he extended his contract with Celta until June 2026 but is one of the lowest-paid players in the squad.
Carvalhal impressed
For now, the midfielder’s intention is to keep improving on his fine form for the Galician club, who he joined at the age of 11. Celta boss Carlos Carvalhal praised the player recently. “He is humble, hard-working and is improving a lot. With that and his talent, he can reach a very high level”.
