Real Madrid LaLiga schedule for 2022/23

Check out the full list of Real Madrid’s 2022/23 LaLiga fixtures. The champions begin their title defence against Almeria. The first Clásico will be on 16 October and the first derby on 18 September.

Carlo Ancelotti’s Real Madrid now know their schedule for the 2022/23 LaLiga campaign in which they will be looking to build on their successes of last season. The draw for the new season took place this evening at the RFEF headquarters in Las Rozas. Madrid begin their title defence away at newly-promoted Almería on the weekend of 13/14 August.

Last season, Madrid were away from home for the first three matchdays due to the remodelling work being carried out on their stadium and the same applies this season. Their game in front of their own fans will be against Betis in Week 4 - the Verdiblancos will be the first visitors to the Bernabéu of the 2022/23 season with that game taking place on the weekend of 3/4 September.

Almería, the Second Division champions, return to the top flight after an eight-year absence after being relegated in 2015. The game will be the first opportunity for Ancelotti to hand one or even both of his summer signings - Antonio Rüdiger and Aurélien Tchouaméni, their first official debuts with the first team.

LaLiga takes a break for the World Cup

All the major domestic leagues will be put on the back burner for six weeks to accommodate the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. Real Madrid will play host to Cádiz on the weekend of 8/9 November before LaLiga stops and won’t be in action again until New Year’s Eve when they travel to Valladolid.

Real Madrid vs Barcelona: Clásico dates

Real Madrid’s clashes with Barcelona are generally the first which fans seek out and draw a red circle around in their diary. The first Clásico of the new season will take place at the Bernabéu on Sunday 16 October 2022 with Ancelotti’s team intent on avenging the 0-4 hammering they were dealt by their eternal rivals the last time out. Both teams will be back to face off at Camp Nou on 19 March 2023.

Real Madrid vs Atlético: Madrid derby dates

The other key date for Real Madrid in the league calendar is the derby against crosstown rivals, Atlético. Los Blancos will travel to to the Metropolitano for the first capital derby on 18 September 2022, corresponding to Week 6. Diego Simeone’s men will be guests of their neighbours in the reverse fixture in Chamartin on 26 February 2023

Most teams prefer to be at home for the final day of the season and Real Madrid have been fortunate in that regard - they will play host to Athletic Club, at the Bernabeu on Sunday 4 June 2023 to bring the league campaign to a close.
