Carlo Ancelotti gives his thoughts post-match
On Madrid performance

For 25 minutes after the break, Madrid didn't look like scoring, until Vinicius came up with another timely finish. Real Madrid host Mallorca in LaLiga, as Carlo Ancelotti’s men bid to continue their winning start to the Spanish top-flight season.
Eden Hazard’s goal against Celtic was only the second he has scored in the Champions League since he arrived at Real Madrid in the summer 2019.
The first, against Inter Milan, was a penalty in 2020. In all, the Belgian has mustered just seven goals in 69 games in a Madrid career that has been dogged by injuries ever since he had his ankle broken by international colleague Thomas Meunier in November 2019, in a European clash with Paris Saint-Germain. With his strike at Celtic Park, he took a weight off his shoulders. He not only found the net for the first time since a January Copa del Rey tie against Elche, but also - and more importantly - he offered up his first convincing performance as a replacement for Karim Benzema, operating in the new No. 9 role that Ancelotti has devised for the 31-year-old.
With the injured Benzema out of the games against Mallorca and RB Leipzig and a serious doubt for the Madrid derby against Atlético on Sunday week, Hazard is back in the spotlight.
Verdict on Real Mallorca:
"Mallorca have been doing very well. They’ve only conceded three goals this season, all from penalties. I expect them to come to the Bernabéu with a plan to defend well and look to hit us on the break."
Today's subs
Real Madrid: Lunin, Luis López, Carvajal, Vallejo, Nacho, Camavinga, Tchouameni, Asensio, Modric, Mariano.
Mallorca: Leo Román, Russo, Copete, Braian Cufré, Baba, Grenier, Antonio Sánchez, Gio González, Javier Llabrés, Antonio Sánchez, Ángel Rodríguez, Lago Júnior, Abdón Prats.
The stage is set
Real Madrid vs Mallorca gets underway at 2pm (CEST).
We'll be continuing our coverage up until kickoff and taking you through the action as it unfolds at the Bernabéu.
Mallorca XI
Javier Aguirre has chosen the following eleven for today's clash with the champions.
Vini Jr starts
The Brazilian has scored three goals in four league games this season.
Hoping to cause an upset
Javier Aguirre's side started the season with a creditable draw at San Mamés. They then lost 2-1 at home to Real Betis. They followed that up with their first win (0-2) against Rayo at Vallecas before finally drawing 1-1 against Girona. Today, they will be hoping to cause an upset against the reigning champions.
Player to watch: Vedat Muriqi
The 28-year-old Kosovan striker is Mallorca's biggest threat. Key to them staying in the division last season, he is also set to be crucial this season. He is already their top scorer with two goals.
Mallorca visit the capital
Mallorca are in Madrid for their fifth league game of the season.
The islanders have picked up five points from their opening four games and sit in 13th place.
When Real Madrid face Mallorca at the Bernabéu in LaLiga on Sunday, Los Blancos can make it seven wins out of seven at the start of a season for only the seventh time in the club’s history.
The Spanish and European champions have been victorious in all of their competitive games so far this term, winning four in the league, one in the Champions League and another in the UEFA Super Cup.
Real Madrid XI
Carlo Ancelotti has made several changes to the team who beat Celtic in midweek.
Lucas Vázquez, Antonio Rudiger, Dani Ceballos, Rodrygo and Eden Hazard all come into the side.
