Given the fact that his contract at Real Madrid is set to expire at the end of the season, the uncertainty regarding the future of Toni Kroos has been swirling around the Spanish capital all season. However, the German midfielder has made clear the only thing he seems to be sure of: the five-time Champions League winner will not wear any shirt other than that of Real Madrid. The midfielder said so himself on the podcast Einfach mal luppen, that he shares with his brother, Felix.

‘I will retire here’ - Kroos

I will retire here”, Toni said during the chat, before adding: “the thing is that I still don’t know when it will be”. Fully aware that his future is keeping all Real Madrid fans in suspense, the former Bayern Munich player stressed that he does not feel “any kind of pressure” from Real Madrid and that the matter has yet to be decided upon. “As of today there is no final decision on my part” he explained, without revealing whether the scale is currently weighted towards the end of his career or a renewal with the club.

Ancelotti is positive about Toni

Meanwhile, Carlo Ancelotti remains optimistic. During a recent press conference, the Italian coach said the following when asked about Kroos’ imminent future: “I know what is going to happen, but I’m not going to say it, because I’m not Kroos. In fact, he hasn’t told me, but the feeling I have is positive, that he can renew”. According to Carlo, Kroos has a lot of years left at just 33 years of age. However, as as always been the case, it will be Toni himself who decides. We may have one more piece to the puzzle given this new revelation, but the bigger picture is still unclear.
