EL CLÁSICO
Real Madrid’s possible XI for El Clásico
Los Blancos are missing keeper Thibaut Courtois and striker Rodrygo in what is set to be Kylian Mbappé's first taste of a Clásico clash.
Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti has one main doubt when it comes to selection process ahead of Saturday’s clash against FC Barcelona at the Santiago Bernabeu (kick-off at 3pm ET).
The Italian will have to choose either Luka Modric or Camavinga as part of his midfield with the rest of the composition of his starting line-up for El Clasico reasonably clear with Vinicius and Mbappé set to lead the attack with Rodrygo ruled out through injury and the Brazilian set to miss forthcoming games against Valencia, Milan and Osasuna.
Everything points to Ancelotti opting for a 4-4-2 formation with the French striker set to experience his first taste of El Clásico and with a four man midfield set to compose, Valverde, Tchouameni, Bellingham and Modric/Camavinga.
Andriy Lunin returns to goal, replacing the injured Courtois and this will be the Ukrainian stoppers fourth game against the Catalan giants with the 25-year-old anxious to maintain winning ways against Barça having being involved in three victories against the ‘Blaugrana’.
The back four will see Lucas Vázquez on the right flank with the Galician delivering a solid performance against Dortmund midweek after a sluggish start with the player bagging the all important third goal as part of the 5-2 win. Militao and Rüdiger will patrol the centre of defence with Mendy on the left with the Frenchman looking to keep Lamine Yamal as quiet as possible.
Real Madrid possible XI vs Barça
Lunin; Lucas Vázquez, Militao, Rüdiger, Mendy; Valverde, Tchouameni, Modric/ Camavinga, Bellingham; Mbappé and Vinicius.
