Real Madrid reach verbal agreement with Monaco for Tchouaméni
The 22-year-old French midfielder’s move to Madrid is imminent. The cost of the operation will exceed 100 million euros.
Aurelien Tchouaméni is a step closer to joining Real Madrid. A deal between the midfielder’s club Monaco and Madrid is imminent and could be struck within hours. The player had already reached an agreement with the player, as AS reported yesterday and all that was left was to agree terms with Monaco. According to The Athletic, an agreement between the two clubs is now in place - a verbal accord for a transfer which will cost Madrid in excess of 100 million euros.
The Spanish and European champions had initially offered a fee of around 60 million euros for Tchouaméni, but Monaco raised their asking price to 80 million. That figure however, was a straight transfer fee and didn’t include any extras, add-ons or bonuses. In total, according to The Athletic’s calculations, the final fee will be in six digits.
Second new addition
Now, all that is left to be done is to tie up all of the remaining paperwork. But an agreement is now in place and once the final flecks of the deal are sorted, Real Madrid can officially announce Tchouaméni as a new signing. An announcement could could be put out within the next few hours at the earliest. With Tchouaméni, Madrid will have secured their second reinforcement of the summer, after bringing in Antonio Rüdiger on a free transfer. Tchouaméni, one of the most promising young players to have broke onto the scene, will act as cover for Casemiro and could carve out a regular starting place in the medium term.
