Real Madrid squad for Shakhtar Donetsk Champions League clash announced
Ancelotti has revealed that Ceballos has a hamstring problem and will not be involved against Shakhtar.
Carlo Ancelotti was his honest self in his press conference on Tuesday ahead of Real Madrid’s Champions League clash with Shakhtar Donetsk on Wednesday. Thibaut Courtois, who has picked up an injury, did not feature in Tuesday’s session. Luka Modrić and Lucas Vázquez, who also missed the game against Osasuna on Sunday, were training with the rest of the squad without any apparent issues. The Italian revealed that Dani Ceballos will miss Madrid’s game on Wednesday.
“As you know we have Courtois out and Modrić and Lucas Vázquez are coming back. There have been problems with Ceballos’ hamstring and he won’t be available tomorrow,” said Ancelotti. “I’m doubtful whether he’s going to start the game,” he added when discussing Modrić.
Courtois expected to be back for El Clásico
Ancelotti went on to say that Courtois might be in contention to play in El Clásico on October 16. “He is much better. We have doubts for the next game against Getafe, but he might be available for the second leg against Shakhtar or for El Clásico,” he continued.
As for Ceballos, the club are keeping their fingers crossed. The Spanish midfielder has a problem in his right hamstring and tests will be carried out tomorrow, so the club will have to wait to find out how serious the injury is. The setback comes at a time when Modrić is just recovering from injury.
