The votes are in! FIFPRO, the global union for professional soccer players, has released its ‘World 11′ for 2024.

A total of 21,266 FIFPRO members submitted their choices for the team with the top players in each position named in the World 11. This year’s team features five players from Premier League champions Manchester City and two from the Spanish team that lifted the European Championship over the summer.

However FIFPRO have since revealed that the player with the largest share of the vote was Real Madrid and England star Jude Bellingham. He enjoyed an incredible first season with Real Madrid, lifting LaLiga and the Champions League, before helping England to the final of the Euros. He is one of six players from Real Madrid to be included in the World 11.

German legend Toni Kroos is named in the World 11 for 2024 despite having retired from the game after the summer’s Euros. He had previously spoken about wishing to bow out at the top and he did just that.

Many were surprised to see the likes of Harry Kane, Lamine Yamal and Mohamed Salah left out, but the attacking trio of Erling Haaland, Kylian Mbappé and Vinicius Junior takes some beating.

The World 11 was first introduced in 2005 and awards the outstanding performers in each position. Players from around the world are given unique links with access to a digital voting platform, on which they can make their selections.

Player pick their top three goalkeepers, defenders, midfielders and forwards and that data is collated to produce a single, most-selected starting XI. This year is the first time since 2006 that Lionel Messi was not named in the team, an incredible run from the Argentine.
