Real Madrid confirmed starting lineup against Atlético Madrid in LaLiga

A starting eleven with quite a few changes, at least by Arbeloa’s standards. Since taking charge of Real Madrid, the coach has been known for maintaining consistency in his line-ups. He has not yet fielded the same eleven in two consecutive matches, but the adjustments between games have usually been minimal.

In short, just one change has been made for the derby against Atlético: Lunin starts over Courtois.

Rüdiger and Huijsen have established themselves as the starting centre-back pairing.

Carvajal starts at right-back, while Fran will play on the left.

No changes to the midfield. Valverde and Tchouaméni are two pillars of the team, and Thiago Pitarch has become a regular starter under Arbeloa. The manager showed in the two matches against City that he trusts the academy graduate for the biggest occasions. It is Thiago’s first derby and his sixth consecutive start. Arda Güler completes the midfield.

The major return to the starting eleven comes in attack. Mbappé is back to form a strike partnership with Vinicius - but he’ll have to wait, with Brahim keeping his spot.

In his two league matches against Atlético, Kylian has scored in both. He also returns eager to rediscover his goalscoring rhythm, with 23 goals in La Liga and 38 in all competitions this season.

Arbeloa is without five players for the derby: Courtois, Mendy, Ceballos, Rodrygo and Militão, all due to injury. The Brazilian centre-back has already resumed some ball work with the group and is expected to be the next player to return. His comeback is anticipated after the international break.
