Real Madrid suffer huge injury blows to key duo against Osasuna

Real Madrid’s recent troubles were added to in Saturday’s LaLiga clash against Osasuna at Estadio Santiago Bernabéu as key pair Rodrygo and Eder Militão were forced off the field with injuries within minutes of one another in the first half.

What injury does Rodrygo have? How bad is it?

The Brazilian attacker had only just returned to the starting lineup after a recent hamstring issue, which had forced him to sit out the Clásico defeat to Barcelona.

With just under 20 minutes played, Rodrygo went to ground clutching his left thigh and was soon taken off for Brahim Díaz. Another muscle injury could signal another spell on the sidelines for the 23-year-old, who was in tears on the bench.

Fears over new knee injury for Eder Militão

His injury, however, seems to be considerably less serious than the one suffered by Militão, who crumbled in the Osasuna penalty box as he attempted to get on the end of a cross.

Opposing defender Flavien Boyonno was marking the Brazilian but didn’t appear to make any contact. The former Porto centre-back looks to have sustained a knee injury, which he will be desperately hoping is not as devastating as the ACL tear which kept him out of the majority of the 2023/24 season. Militão was, however, in a considerable amount of pain as he received treatment on the field before being stretchered off.

Updates on the injuries suffered by Rodrygo and Militão are expected in the hours after the match, with tests to assess the extent of the damage likely to be carried out in the coming days.

Is Lucas Vázquez injured?

To make matters even worse, Lucas Vázquez was also substituted at halftime having had his own injury scare in the opening 45 minutes. The Real Madrid academy product appeared to damage a hamstring and went off for treatment before coming back on. However, he was replaced at the interval by Luka Modric, which suggests he too could be set for a period on the sidelines.
