Real Madrid take action after fans were fined in Paris
An article in AS alerted the club who have decided to intervene. Several fans were identified on the Champs-Élysées and received a €375 fine, despite only being out for a walk.
It emerged last week that some Real Madrid fans had been fined just for strolling down the Champs-Élysées and the area surrounding the Eiffel Tower - apparently singled out by police for wearing their Real Madrid shirts and scarves. Thousands of others were assaulted, robbed, beaten and humiliated at the end of the Champions League final in Saint-Denis, as they made their way to the Metro or to the car park where they had left their vehicles to return home to Spain. Inadmissible police negligence that forced Real Madrid to issue an official statement to show their unease and unhappiness at what happened with their fans. Now the club will be taking action on hearing the facts about another ugly episode involving French authorities’ treatment of fans which AS reported on Thursday.
