Chelsea defender Antonio Rüdiger has signed for Real Madrid, according to multiple reports.

The Athletic report that the German defender signed a deal today until 2026. Rüdiger is set to earn between €9-10 million per year after tax, which is more than he was earning with Chelsea.

Madrid to announce deal after final

Official confirmation of the move is expected after Madrid’s Champions League final against Liverpool in Paris on 28 May.

The 29-year-old, who has been a key player for Thomas Tuchel at Chelsea, has already completed a medical and will have a release clause of €400 million.

The London club were reportedly in talks to keep him but after their owner Roman Abramovich was sanctioned by the British government, negotiations over new signings and contracts were prohibited.
