Real proved they are not unbeatable

Real Madrid are probably experiencing their worst moment of the season, as Los Blancos lost their first competitive game since April vs. RB Leipzig last Tuesday, and couldn’t beat Girona last weekend in LaLiga.

Meanwhile, their Scottish opponents won at Livingston after being kicked out of the Champions League in midweek.

Carlo Ancelotti’s men were expected to get another routine win in the domestic competition against heavy underdogs Girona in Madrid but things turned out to be trickier than expected.

Vinicius Jr. scored for the hosts in the 70 thanks to a great cross by Federico Valverde, but when everything seemed to go Real Madrid’s way, the Catalan outfit silenced the Bernabéu after scoring a penalty.

Los Merengues, who are the LaLiga leaders with only one point ahead of Barcelona, want to close their UCL group stage in style with a victory in front of their fans to finish in the top spot.

The two sides of Celtic

Celtic are in a very different situation in Europe, as they are in the last position with only two points. Leipzig’s victory over Real and their 1-1 draw vs. Shakhtar Donetsk left Ange Postecoglou’s side with no chance of progressing to the next round.

However, in the Scottish Premiership their dynamics are way better, as they have won 10 of 11 games. They are leading the standings with 29 points, four more than Glasgow Rangers, while Hibernian are sitting third with 20 points.

Ballon D’or winner Karim Benzema and Aurélien Tchouameni are doubtful for this one, as they continue to fully recover from their injuries.

As for Celtic, Callum McGregor will continue his spell on the sidelines after he sustained a knee injury against Leipzig, but Jota seems recovered after returning to action on the weekend and centre-back Carl Starfelt could make the bench here.

Who is refereeing Real Madrid vs Celtic?

French referee Stéphanie Frappart will take charge of the fixture. Alongside her are assistants Mikael Berchebru and Benjamin Pages. The fourth official is Johan Hamel, while the two VAR overseers will be Benoît Millot and Massimiliano Irrat
