Real Madrid’s long-standing Brazilian representation

Vinicius, Rodrygo and Casemiro start the pre-season and maintain the tradition of a Brazilian presence at Real Madrid, which has been uninterrupted since the signing of Roberto Carlos in 1996.

No other foreign nationality has maintained a continuous presence in the Real dressing room since then. The oldest, Casemiro, faces a season in which he will be a starter, but this time, for the first time in a long time, he has a replacement thanks to the signing of Aurélien Tchouaméni. His other three younger compatriots, Vinicius, Rodrygo and Militao, are already settled in the team. All three will sign their contract renewals with the club in the next few days.

The one who will see the biggest change from a year ago is Vinicius, who has become a star since the start of last season, scoring 22 goals and providing 16 assists as well as scoring the goal that won Madrid their Fourteenth Champions League. Militao, established as a starter, will have a new partner in the centre of defence with the arrival of Rüdiger.

The club will have to look for a new loan for Reinier, as the quota of non-EU nationals is covered until Vinicius, Rodrygo and Militao obtain Spanish passports.
