Inter Miami CF have secured a spot in the MLS Cup playoffs this season in the Eastern Conference, but in case they don’t reach their main goal, win the title, they are thinking about the near future. With Gonzalo Higuaín confirming his retirement at the end of the current campaign, the Florida-based franchise is thinking about bringing in Cristiano Ronaldo as a designated player.

Beckham trying to convince Cristiano Ronaldo

It has been reported that the Portuguese superstar is unhappy with Erik Ten Hag’s methods at Manchester United. The 37-year-old has only made one start in five Premier League appearances so far this season, and Ten Hag has been very vocal that he would understand if Ronaldo leaves in January.

Not a lot of clubs are keen to sign the star because of his high salary demands. This however, doesn’t appear to bother Inter Miami because according to a report by journalist Pedro Almeida, David Beckham called Ronaldo to convince him to join the MLS franchise when the transfer window opens.

Per the report, Inter Miami CF has been in talks with Cristiano’s agent, Jorge Mendes, to see if they can reach his demands if he ever decides to play in MLS. The negotiations are still at an early stage because Ronaldo wants to play in Europe’s top tier and join a team that can be a serious contender for the UEFA Champions League.
