Despite the fact that the tournament has already started, Cruz Azul continue to seek reinforcements to bulk up the squad for the Clausura 2023 and had Colombian Radamel Falcao in their sights. However, it now seems that his arrival will not be possible during this transfer window and the team is set to stay as it currently is.

Through his official Twitter account, the ESPN journalist, León Lecanda, reported that the former Atlético de Madrid player will not be the box office signing of Liga MX since the board do not want to incorporate another player at the start of the tournament. “Radamel Falcao will not arrive at La Máquina during this winter market. The Clausura 2023 squad is set to remain as it is, with no more additions or exits before the closing of registrations”, he wrote.

Cruz Azul’s transfer activity

It is worth mentioning that all football clubs have until the first of February to register their new players, since after that date nobody else will be accepted. In recent days there has been speculation that La Máquina were interested in signing striker Radamel Falcao, but Rayo Vallecano refused to see the player leave, who is still important to the Madrid side.

Cruz Azul were one of the clubs with the most activity in Mexican football, as they managed to sign Ramiro Carrera and Agusto Lotti, as well as Jordan Silva and Alexis Gutierrez. At the beginning of the year, the team’s board of directors decided to give continuity to Raúl el ‘Potro’ Gutiérrez, who was able to get Cruz Azul into the Apertura 2022 Quarter Finals.
