Revenge time: Salah looks forward to Real Madrid

Mohammed Salah, who just won Footballer of the Year is looking forward to playing Real Madrid in the Champions League final, says it’s about revenge.

Update:

Liverpool’s star forward Mohamed Salah was presented with the FWA Footballer of the Year award on Thursday. After receiving the award, Salah spoke about the upcoming Champions League final, where the Reds will take on Real Madrid. The Egyptian star insisted that Liverpool is going to win the quadruple - the Champions League, Premier League, FA Cup, and League Cup title all in one season.

“Not everything is in our hands - we have to win our games in the Premier League and see if City drop points or not,” said Salah. “They have a great team, great manager - I’m sure they want to keep winning. But it’s possible.”

UCL: Real Madrid vs Liverpool a “revenge game”

As for the upcoming Champions League final, Salah, who already said he hoped Real Madrid would be Liverpool’s opponents, got his wish when they beat Manchester City on Wednesday.

“I’m so excited, I’m sure the team as well is so excited about it,” said Salah. “I’m sure it’s going to be a tough game, they’ve beaten a lot of good teams. We just need to focus on the game.”

Why does he want to play them so bad? Simple...revenge. The two teams met in the UCL final in 2018, when Salah was carted off with an injury after a bad tackle. Liverpool lost to Los Blancos 3-1.

“We lost in the [2018] final. It was a sad day for all of us,” he said. “It’s revenge time.”

It was a rough Sergio Ramos challenge that forced Salah off the field in 2018 in the Champions League final in Kyiv. The 29-year-old will now have his chance at a rematch when they take on Real Madrid in Paris on May 28.
