Rio Ferdinand: “Man Utd cannot let Cristiano Ronaldo go”
The Manchester United legend spoke on the Vibe with Five podcast about the Portuguese forward’s situation at the club.
A few days ago Wayne Rooney wrote in his column for The Times that Manchester United should let Cristiano Ronaldo leave if it was true that he wanted to leave. Rooney’s former team-mate Rio Ferdinand has since come out with another idea for United to consider. The former Red Devils player says that the club cannot let Cristiano Ronaldo go because they do not have any player with the quality of the veteran forward.
Ferdinand also discussed Erik ten Hag’s decision to start Ronaldo on the bench in United’s defeat to Brighton on Sunday. “For a player, sitting on the bench and then coming on is the worst thing for you to do. You start and say ‘You are going to play 45 minutes and do what you do’. This guy is one of the greatest of all time. He knows at all times what condition he is in. What happened is not good for Ronaldo or for United. If he had started, it would have been better for them.”
