For the second time in a row, the Polish National Team will be present at the World Cup and for the 2022 edition in Qatar have been placed in Group C where they will face the teams of Argentina, Mexico and Saudi Arabia. A few months before the start of the planet’s greatest soccer tournament, the new Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski is focused on making sure that the start of their journey is on the right foot.

What Lewandowski thinks of Mexico team

The prolific goalscorer is aware of the difficulty that the El Tri presents, but recognizes that the Polish squad must get the three points in the first match to take a big step to the round of 16.

“We recognize that the game against Mexico is key,” he commented at a press conference during this international break from club duty. “They prepare very well, we must do the same. It will be a difficult opponent and a good game.”

“We have a very difficult game where Argentina is the favorite and you also include Mexico, who always make the tournament pleasant, as well as being a great challenge. The other team is Saudi Arabia, not an easy team for us, and also in the World Cup anything is possible.”

Mexico and Argentina favorites to qualify

It is worth mentioning that due to their World Cup history, Argentina and Mexico start as favorites to advance to the knockout stage, but Poland will do everything they can to take one of their tickets to the next round. On the other hand, the Saudi Arabia team looks like the weakest team, but we’ve seen dark horses cause upsets before.

The duel between the Poles and Mexicans is scheduled to be played on November 22 at 10 am (Central Mexico time) which is 11 am ET / 8am PT. In the meantime, the national team under the command of Gerardo Martino continues with its preparation games and face both Peru and Colombia in this September FIFA break.
