Robert Lewandowski has scored in six consecutive La Liga matches for Barcelona, who currently sit top of LaLiga. The striker has discussed his first few months in LaLiga in an interview with Polish media outlet Kanal Sportowy.

Lewandowski netted his ninth goal of the season in Barcelona’s 1-0 win over Mallorca on Saturday night.

Signing for Barcelona

“Real Madrid had been interested in me on several occasions, but when Barcelona called me I didn’t think about it. I knew that the club was not in the best moment, but I have always thought about the future. Barcelona will be back among the greats again,” the veteran forward said.

On the current campaign

“We are improving every week. In every game, you can see the difference. Everything is going in the right direction.”

Xavi Hernández

“The pre-season with Xavi was very intense. I expected it to be softer. It was even harder than the pre-season with Bayern.”

LaLiga vs Bundesliga

“In Spain, the fans value the technical side of the game more than in Germany.”

Playing in Spain

“I always wanted to play in LaLiga and live in Spain. Now I feel renewed.”

Barcelona team-mates

“Gavi, Pedri, Ansu and Balde impress me because of how mature they are at their age. I’m learning Spanish and little by little I’m understanding it better. It helped me a lot that English is understood in the dressing room.”

Lewandowski unstoppable

The former Bayern marksman has scored nine goals in fewer games than any other player in LaLiga this century. He will be hoping to add to his tally for the season when Barcelona travel to Milan to take on Inter in the Champions League on Tuesday.
