Roger Martínez: “Who wouldn’t love to play for Boca?”
The ex-América player spoke about Boca’s interest and says he feels privileged that someone like Juan Román Riquelme has spoken highly about him.
Boca Juniors have been interested in signing Colombian striker Roger Martínez some time, but due to several different reasons, mainly economic, the transfer never materialized. Now, following the the 28-year-old’s recent departure from América, we will see whether Juan Román Riquelme’s wish to bring Martínez to Buenos Aires finally comes true. During an interview with AS Mexico, the player expressed his opinion on the situation.
“I feel privileged that someone like Román is interested in me. To tell the truth, I feel very grateful, as he has always spoken about signing me,” the striker told AS.
“Any player would love to play for Boca. Who wouldn’t jump at the chance of playing for a club like that? They came looking for me, but unfortunately things did not depend on me. Now, let’s see what will happen. If another offer comes along, we will analyze it and make the best decision,” Roger continued in reference to Boca’s interest and his future.
“I would like to reiterate my gratitude to Román, and I feel privileged. Boca is a crazy place - the fans and the stadium... I will always be grateful for the support and interest they have shown in me”, he concluded.
The former Club América striker has aroused interest in several Liga MX club, as well as from clubs in other countries such as Brazil, the United States and Saudi Arabia, who have inquired about his situation. His dream is to emigrate to Europe, but he insists that all offers that come forward will be looked at carefully and in depth.
