Ronaldinho: “Messi, the best player of all time...? That’s difficult”
During the presentation of the Circus Cup match, the Brazilian declared that the Argentine is not top of his personal list of the best players of all-time.
Ronaldinho will dress in shorts again to play a friendly match in which he will spend twenty minutes of each half with two teams, one with Standard Liège and the other with the Gent. In the presentation of the meeting at the Ghelamco Arena in Ghent, the former player spoke about his past at AC Milan and Barcelona, but also about his relationship with Lionel Messi.
Ronaldinho was asked whether he thought Messi is the best player of all-time and said that he couldn’t give a straight answer to that question. “It’s difficult because there are so many players. I don’t like to compare, but Pelé, Maradona... etc. Each one was the best player in his time,” Ronaldinho admitted, without openly including the Argentine among the greatest in history.
He also spoke about his former club and their current situation: “Barcelona are going through a moment of transition, it’s a period of many changes and a few players [from Messi’s time] have come back (with reference to Dani Alves). I hope things turn out well for them, they have a good coach and young players with a lot of talent. Barça have everything they need to get back to the top,”.
He also recalled his time at Milan: “They are in a great moment after many years without winning. Now they are up and competing in the big competitions. I think Milan has finally become the team they were again.”
