Ruben Amorim could be set for quick return to touchline just weeks after Manchester United sacking
It’s been two months since Ruben Amorim was sacked by Manchester United after just over a year with the Red Devils, but he could be making a return soon.
It was a bumpy ride in the Premier League for Ruben Amorim, and it didn’t end with a bang. Instead it ended in a sacking. Now the Portuguese coach that was axed two months ago is rumored to be named boss of a new club in the coming days.
Unsuccessful run at Old Trafford
Amorim was brought to Old Trafford after Erik ten Hag´s unsuccessful stint with the Red Devils. The former Sporting CP boss was brought in with ambitions that he would return to club to it’s glory days but instead the club spiraled into chaos last season.

United had a historically bad campaign, finishing 15th but the board of directors kept Amorim this summer and allowed him to try and build from the ground up during the preseason. Things didn’t progress the way they were hoping at the Theater of Dreams and after 14 months he was sacked.
Now just seven weeks later, he has been tied to a new job following the disaster in Manchester. Vasco de Gama have reportedly contacted the former Benfica midfielder, in hopes that he can turn things around at the Sao Januario.
Diniz let go last week
Brazilian side Vasco De Gama cut ties with Fernando Diniz last week following their 1-0 defeat to Fluminese. It’s early in the campaign, but Vasco De Gama are currently 19th in the Serie A in Brazil after three matchdays and the the directors of the club had seen enough from Diniz is his second stint as manager.

Diniz was brought back to Vasco de Gama last season and pulled them out of the relegation zone. They finished 14th, just two points ahead of Ceara who finished 17th and got relegated to Serie B. Now, less than a month into the season the club is moving on.
Amorim is now the front runner for the job with the Brazilian Giants, and could be looking to restore some of the good sensations he had as a manager at Sporting. He led Sporting to League titles in 2020-21 and 2023-24 before Manchester United came calling. He also helped the Red Devils to the Europa League final last year, but United fell to Tottenham.
