Deadpool actor Ryan Reynolds and ‘It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’ celebrity Rob McElhenney purchased Wrexham AFC for $2.76 million in November 2020, amid much excitement. Thanks to their attention to the club and the region, the two have become global emblems of Welsh football.

Before the game started, the 46-year-old Hollywood celebrity kindly signed autographs for eager fans

When Ryan Reynolds turned up in Wrexham, Wales, on Sunday for the Emirates FA Cup Fourth Round encounter between Wrexham and Sheffield United at Racecourse Ground, he showed his support for the side by signing autographs and taking pictures.

Thursday saw the departure of Wrexham’s longest-tenured first-team member, goalkeeper Dibble. On Instagram, Reynolds said, “Christian Dibble is a key reason we are where we are today and more importantly, a significant reason so many people throughout the world believe in our club.”

Wrexham, the third-oldest football club in the world, has never competed in England’s top division. Still, it has a distinguished history in the FA Cup, having advanced to the quarterfinals twice and notably defeating Arsenal in the third round back in 1992.

Wrexham, who are now participating in the National League, English soccer’s fifth tier

Wrexham is currently in second place in the National League, behind leaders Notts County on goal difference but having played one game less. If Wrexham achieves its aim of promotion, the club will move up to the second division of English football, League Two.

Wrexham needs three more promotions to the Premier League.
